Create global namespace server links

Network-attached storage is a file-level storage architecture that makes stored data more accessible to networked devices.

About this task

See Understanding PowerMax File for storage systems for an overview of File services.

Steps

  1. Select a storage system that supports File services.
  2. Select Storage > File.
  3. Select the GLOBAL NAMESPACES tab.
  4. Select a server and click VIEW ALL DETAILS.
  5. Click Create.
  6. Type values for Local Path, Description, Client Cache Timeout (minutes), and Target UNC Path.
A target UNC path is a compound of remote Server FQDN or IP address, share/export name, and path.
NOTE: A local path name is a path name relative to the namespace root (without a forward slash or trailing slash), that is used by remote hosts to connect to the target FS.
  7. Click OK.
